Summer pedicure with bright nail polish

Best At-Home Pedicure Products for Summer

Getting a professional pedicure is one of those things I love but do not always have time or budget for every two weeks in summer. So I have gotten really good at the at-home version. With the right products it genuinely looks just as good and lasts just as long. This is my whole setup.

Step One: Foot Soak

I fill a basin with warm water and add a scoop of Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender oil. Ten minutes of soaking softens everything and makes the rest of the process so much easier. Epsom salt is available in big bags on Amazon for almost nothing.

Exfoliation: A Good Foot Scrub

After soaking I use a foot scrub to slough off dry skin. The Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub works on feet as well as it does on the rest of your body, or you can find foot-specific scrubs on Amazon. Do not skip this step, it is what makes your feet look sandal-worthy.

Callus Tool: Microplane Foot File

A good foot file used on dry feet removes calluses better than anything else I have tried. The Microplane version is the one I have used for years and it is gentle enough that you will not over-do it. Available on Amazon.

Cuticle Care

Push back cuticles with an orange stick after soaking when they are soft. Apply a little cuticle oil and rub it in before you start painting. Neglected cuticles are the thing that makes an at-home pedicure look homemade, so this step matters. Find cuticle oil on Amazon.

Toe Separators

These are one of the most underrated pedicure tools. Without them you will smudge at least one toe guaranteed. Grab a pair of foam toe separators on Amazon and keep them in your pedicure kit permanently.

Polish: OPI at Ulta

For toenails I almost always go OPI. The brush is wide and covers the nail in fewer strokes, the formula is thick and chip-resistant, and the color range is gorgeous for summer. My current summer picks are Cajun Shrimp for an orange-red and I Think in Pink for a bold fuchsia. Find your shade at Ulta or on Amazon.

Finish with Foot Cream

Once the polish is fully dry, apply a rich foot cream to the heels and the rest of the foot, avoiding the nails. Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Foot Cream is my affordable pick and it genuinely keeps feet soft between pedicures. Available on Amazon.
