Bedding I Am Obsessed With (Including the Affordable Version)
I did not understand what good bedding meant until I slept in a hotel that clearly had it figured out. That soft, cool, crisp feeling. The kind of sheets that feel like a hug. I came home and immediately ordered new bedding because I realized I had been sleeping on scratchy mediocrity for years.
Here is what I actually love now, at both ends of the price range.
Parachute Percale (The Splurge)
Parachute is worth the hype. Their percale sheets are crisp, cool, and get softer with every wash. If you run warm at night, percale is the weave you want. It breathes really well. I found mine through ShopMy and they have held up beautifully. Not cheap but absolutely worth saving for. Percale sheets on Amazon.
Brooklinen Luxe Sateen (The Other Splurge)
If you run cold or want that silky, buttery feeling, Brooklinen Luxe Sateen is incredible. It is heavier and warmer than percale but so smooth. My husband and I actually fight over which set goes on the bed. Also available through ShopMy.
The Amazon Version That Actually Works
Here is the thing: you do not have to spend $200 on sheets. There are some genuinely good options on Amazon in the $40 to $60 range. Look for 100 percent long-staple cotton or a high-quality microfiber and check the reviews carefully. Shop cotton sheets on Amazon.
The Duvet Cover Situation
I am team duvet cover all the way. Wash the cover, not the insert. It makes laundry so much easier. I have a linen duvet cover for summer and a sateen one for winter and swapping them is the easiest seasonal refresh. Linen duvet covers on Amazon.
The Pillow Count That Actually Looks Good
Two sleeping pillows in shams. Two euro pillows behind them. One or two accent pillows in front. That is it. More than that and it starts looking like a furniture showroom. Less than that and the bed looks a little sad.
How to Make Your Bed Look Hotel-Level
Use a duvet insert one size larger than your bed. A queen duvet on a full bed, a king duvet on a queen bed. The extra overhang and puff makes a huge visual difference. Shake the duvet out before you put the cover on so the fill is evenly distributed. Iron or steam your pillowcases if you want that crisp look.
Your bedroom should feel like the best hotel room you have ever stayed in. You deserve that. Tell me in the comments what bedding brand or set you love so I can add it to my list.
xo, Pam
