The Dry Shampoos I Keep Buying on Repeat

Dry shampoo has saved my hair routine more times than I can count. Between busy mornings, pregnancy hair changes, and just genuinely not wanting to wash my hair every single day, a good dry shampoo is not optional in my life. It is a necessity. But not all of them are created equal. I have tried enough of them to know which ones actually earn their place in my cabinet and which ones leave me with white cast and disappointment.

Here are the ones I keep buying over and over again.

Batiste Original Dry Shampoo

This is the one I recommend to literally everyone because it works, it is affordable, and you can find it everywhere. It absorbs oil like nothing else, the scent is light and pleasant, and it gives hair a little body while it is at it. The trick is to spray it at the roots, wait 30 seconds, and then massage it in before you brush through. Do not skip the wait step. It makes a big difference. Grab it on Amazon in bulk because you will go through it.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

This is the one I reach for when I want my hair to actually look like I washed it. The technology Living Proof uses is different from your standard starch-based formulas and it shows. No white residue, no stiffness, just clean-smelling hair with volume. It is on the pricier side but if you have fine hair that gets oily fast, it is worth every penny. Find it at Sephora or Amazon.

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo

This is my budget pick when I want something that performs above its price point. It absorbs oil well, smells clean without being overwhelming, and does not leave any residue when you brush it through. For under $7 it punches really well. Available at drugstores and on Amazon.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

If you have a sensitive scalp, this is the one to try. The oat milk formula is incredibly gentle and it still absorbs oil effectively. I use this one when my scalp feels irritated or when I am in a more sensitive phase during pregnancy. You can find it at Sephora or Amazon.

How I Make Dry Shampoo Last Longer

I apply dry shampoo at night before bed on my clean hair. By morning it has had hours to absorb into the roots and the volume from sleeping on it is actually great. Then on day two or three hair I just use a little more at the roots and brush through. It extends my wash routine by two days minimum.

One That Did Not Work for Me

I tried a very popular aerosol-free dry shampoo powder that came in a little bottle and it was genuinely terrible for my hair. Clumped up, did not absorb anything, made my roots look worse. Not naming it but wanted to mention that not every format works for everyone. Aerosol sprays tend to work better for my hair type.

So glad you are here. xo, Pam
