The Eyebrow Products Worth Buying (My Actual Routine)
Eyebrows changed my face more than any other part of my makeup routine. I spent years filling them in incorrectly, using the wrong shade, or not filling them at all and just hoping for the best. Once I figured out the right products and the right technique, everything clicked. Well-defined brows make your whole face look more polished even when everything else is minimal.
Here is my actual brow routine and the products that made it work.
Step One: Brow Pencil for Definition
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is the product that started my brow obsession. The ultra-fine tip draws the most natural hair-stroke lines I have ever gotten from a pencil. You use it to fill sparse areas, extend the tail, and create shape. The shade range is extensive enough to match almost any hair color. Find it at Sephora or on Amazon.
Affordable Pencil Option: NYX Micro Brow Pencil
If the ABH Brow Wiz price point is not where you want to start, the NYX Micro Brow Pencil does a very similar job for a fraction of the cost. The tip is almost as fine and the formula stays on well. Great for building your brow skills without committing a lot of money. Available on Amazon.
Step Two: Brow Gel to Set
After pencil, I always set with a brow gel to lock everything in place and keep my natural brows brushed in the right direction. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel is my splurge pick for a polished defined look, or the NYX Thick It Stick It Brow Gel for everyday wear. Both hold all day. The NYX version is on Amazon for under $10.
For Sparse Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
If you have very sparse brows or want to draw on your brows more fully, a pomade gives more coverage and staying power than a pencil. The ABH Dipbrow Pomade is the gold standard. You apply it with an angled brush in small strokes. It can feel intimidating but once you practice it gives an incredibly polished result. Available at Sephora and on Amazon.
My Lazy Day Brow
On days when I want minimal effort I skip the pencil entirely and just run a clear or tinted brow gel through my brows. That alone makes a big difference. The Glossier Boy Brow is my favorite for this because it is quick, natural-looking, and effective. On pure lazy days the NYX brow gel does the same thing for less money.
One Tip That Changed My Brows
I started brushing my brows up first before filling them in. It shows you exactly where the gaps are and what shape you are actually working with. From there the filling process is so much more intuitive. Try it once and you will not stop doing it.
