The Best Smelling Cleaning Products I Use at Home
I used to think cleaning products were just cleaning products. Then I smelled Mrs. Meyer’s lavender dish soap for the first time and realized that the scent of your cleaning products genuinely affects how much you enjoy cleaning. And I will take any help I can get in that department.
Here are my current favorites, the ones that actually make me want to wipe down the counters.
Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Spray
The basil scent is my all-time favorite. It smells herbaceous and clean and a little like a fancy restaurant kitchen. I use this on counters, stovetops, and bathroom surfaces. It cleans well and the scent does not linger in an overwhelming way, it just smells fresh. Mrs. Meyer’s spray on Amazon.
Method Bathroom Cleaner in Eucalyptus Mint
This one is for the bathroom and it makes scrubbing the tub almost pleasant. Almost. The scent is spa-like and the formula cuts through soap scum without harsh chemicals or a suffocating chemical smell. Method bathroom cleaner on Amazon.
Grove Co. Dish Soap Concentrate
Grove is one of my favorites for a more eco-conscious home cleaning routine. Their concentrated dish soap smells incredible and lasts forever because it is so concentrated. I buy through ShopMy and they often have great bundle deals. Grove Co. dish soap on Amazon.
Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent
My laundry detergent is one of the things I am picky about because it affects how all my clothes smell. Seventh Generation Free and Clear is my go-to when I want unscented, and their lavender version is great when I want clean sheets that smell like something. Seventh Generation detergent on Amazon.
Wool Dryer Balls
I switched from dryer sheets to wool dryer balls years ago and have not looked back. They reduce drying time, soften clothes without chemicals, and you can add a few drops of essential oil to them for a subtle scent. Wool dryer balls on Amazon.
A Good Candle for After You Clean
This is my reward system. After a cleaning session I light a candle and suddenly the whole house smells intentionally good instead of just like cleaning products. It is the finishing touch that makes a clean home feel actually cozy.
Microfiber Cloths Over Paper Towels
Switching to reusable microfiber cloths for most cleaning tasks was a small change with a big impact. They clean better, last longer, and I go through way fewer paper towels. Get a big pack, color code by area, and wash them with your regular laundry. Microfiber cloths on Amazon.
If cleaning feels like a chore partly because your products smell harsh, try swapping one thing at a time. Start with the dish soap. I promise it makes a difference. Tell me in the comments what your favorite cleaning product scent is.
So glad you are here. Pam
