Best Tinted Moisturizers for a No-Makeup Makeup Look

Some days I want a full face and some days I just want to look like myself but better. That is where tinted moisturizer comes in. It evens everything out, gives you a little coverage, and keeps your skin looking like skin instead of a mask. Once I found the ones I loved, I started reaching for them more than my actual foundation on most days.

Here are my favorites for a genuine no-makeup makeup look.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector

This is the one that started my whole tinted moisturizer obsession. It has buildable medium coverage, a beautiful natural finish, and comes in a wide range of shades. It does not emphasize texture or dry patches and it wears comfortably all day. It does cost around $48 but I use it almost every day so it absolutely earns its place. Find it at Sephora or through Amazon.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

If you want something with a little more glow, this NARS formula gives you a gorgeous luminous finish that looks incredible on skin with any texture. The coverage is lighter than the Laura Mercier but the radiance factor is higher. Great for days when you want to look awake and fresh without much effort. Available at Sephora and on Amazon.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

When I want the no-makeup look on a tight budget, this is my go-to. It is a BB cream with SPF 30, evens my skin tone beautifully, and feels like nothing on my face. For under $10 it is genuinely impressive. Available at drugstores everywhere and on Amazon.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

This is technically not a tinted moisturizer but I wear it that way and it deserves a mention. Mixed with a little moisturizer it gives you the most beautiful luminous wash of color that just makes skin look incredible. It is pricey at around $46 but it photographs like a dream and is genuinely unlike anything else. Check it out at Sephora or Amazon.

Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint

This one has SPF 40, clean ingredients, and a finish that looks like skin with zero effort. It has hyaluronic acid and niacinamide built in so it actually does something for your skin while you wear it. A little goes a long way. Find it at Sephora or Amazon.

How I Apply Tinted Moisturizer

I use my fingers most days. Press it into the skin, blend, done. If I want a little more coverage I dab it with a damp beauty sponge. The key is not to work it too hard or it starts to look patchy. Also always apply to prepped skin, a little moisturizer underneath makes a huge difference.
