Cozy Fall Sweaters Worth Buying Early (I Started Already)
I know it is still technically summer but I have already started my fall sweater shopping and I have zero regrets. The best ones sell out fast and I learned that lesson the hard way two years ago when the chunky cream knit I wanted was gone by mid-September. Not making that mistake again.
Heads up, some of these are affiliate links, which just means I get a tiny commission at no cost to you.
The Chunky Cream Knit
This is the one. The sweater that goes with everything and looks like something you paid a lot more for than you did. A chunky oversized knit in cream or off-white is one of those pieces that photographs beautifully and wears even better. The chunky knit sweaters on Amazon have some really good versions under forty dollars.
The Turtleneck for Real Fall Weather
Once the temperature actually drops, a fitted turtleneck is something I reach for constantly. It layers beautifully under a blazer or a vest and on its own with jeans it looks really polished. The fitted turtleneck sweaters on Amazon are great in neutral shades and usually under thirty dollars.
The Open-Front Cardigan
A longline open-front cardigan is the transitional piece that gets you through September and October. You can layer it over a t-shirt or a dress and it works for everything from a casual coffee run to an actual meeting. The open-front cardigans on Amazon are consistently good and most are under fifty dollars.
The Cozy Ribbed Knit
A ribbed knit sweater in a slightly fitted silhouette is one of those pieces that looks like you tried without you actually having to try. It works with jeans, with skirts, with everything. Look for something in a fall-appropriate shade like rust, camel, or forest green.
Fabric Matters for Warmth and Longevity
For sweaters, I look for natural fiber blends when possible. Cotton and wool blends hold their shape better than acrylic alone and feel much better against your skin over the course of a full day.
