Homemade Strawberry Pop Tarts With Whole Wheat Red Flour Crust

Homemade Strawberry Pop Tarts
Flaky whole wheat pop tarts with a jammy strawberry center and a pretty pink glaze. So much better than the boxed kind, and fun to make with little hands.
Ingredients
Method
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs, then add ice water a tablespoon at a time until a dough forms. Divide in two, flatten into discs, wrap, and chill at least 30 minutes.
- Stir together the jam, cornstarch, and lemon juice for the filling.
- Roll each dough disc into a rectangle and cut into even rectangles, about 3 by 4 inches.
- Spoon a little filling onto half of the rectangles, leaving a border. Brush the edges with beaten egg, top with a second rectangle, and press the edges with a fork to seal. Prick the tops with a fork.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and bake at 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden. Let cool completely.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla into a smooth glaze. Spread over the cooled tarts and finish with sprinkles.

I hope you found this recipe as delicious as I do!
