Every World Cup Match in Kansas City: Dates, Teams, and Kickoff Times

Okay, planner moms, this one is for us. If you are trying to figure out which days the World Cup is actually at Arrowhead so you can request time off, line up a sitter, or just know when downtown is going to be wild, I gathered all six Kansas City match dates in one tidy spot.

Heads up that kickoff times and the knockout matchups can shift as the bracket fills in, so always double check the official Kansas City World Cup site before you buy anything. But here is the lay of the land.

The six Kansas City matches

All six are played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, which goes by Kansas City Stadium during the tournament. Four are group stage games, and then we host two knockout games, including a quarterfinal.

Group stage

Tuesday, June 16 is our opener, with Argentina facing Algeria in a primetime evening slot. If you only catch one group game, the energy on opening night is going to be unreal.

Saturday, June 20 brings Ecuador versus Curacao, a fun afternoon-into-evening matchup that is very family friendly timing wise.

Thursday, June 25 is Tunisia versus the Netherlands, which should bring a big traveling fan crowd and a lot of orange in the stands.

Saturday, June 27 closes out our group stage with Algeria versus Austria.

Knockout rounds

Friday, July 3 gives us a Round of 32 knockout game, with the exact teams set once the group stage wraps. Bonus, it is right at the start of Fourth of July weekend, so the whole city will already be in celebration mode.

Saturday, July 11 is the big one, a quarterfinal at Arrowhead. This is the deepest into the tournament KC gets to host, and the teams will depend on how the bracket plays out.

A few planning notes from me

Match days mean heavy traffic near the stadium and downtown, so build in extra time and consider the streetcar or rideshare. Summer in KC is hot and humid, so whatever match you go to, hydrate and dress for the heat. I have a whole post on what to wear to a match in our summer weather if you need it.

And if tickets are not in the cards, remember the free Fan Festival downtown is showing the matches on a giant screen all tournament long.

The takeaway

Six matches, four group games and two knockouts, all at Arrowhead between June 16 and July 11. Screenshot this, stick it on the fridge, and start scheming which ones you want to be part of. I will be at as many as I can talk my way into.

See you in the stands, or on the patio. xo, Pam
