Maternity Clothes Worth the Money (and the Amazon Ones That Work)
Let me be honest: I resisted buying maternity clothes for way longer than I should have. I kept telling myself I would just “make it work” with stretchy regular clothes. That lasted until about week 18 when I tried to button my jeans and the button shot across the room like a tiny projectile. Message received.
Since then I have tried a lot of maternity options, from the splurge-worthy to the “found this on Amazon at midnight” variety. Here is what I actually think is worth it.
The Investment Pieces
HATCH is the brand everyone talks about for a reason. The quality is genuinely good and the pieces are designed to work before, during, and after pregnancy. I picked up a HATCH maternity top that I have been wearing constantly. It is not cheap, but I have worn it more than anything else I own right now, so the cost per wear is actually pretty reasonable.
If you want a more affordable version of that same elevated-basics vibe, Storq is worth checking out too. Their Storq maternity leggings are soft, hold their shape, and do not roll down which is the one thing I cannot deal with.
The Amazon Finds That Actually Work
Here is where I will surprise you: Amazon maternity is genuinely solid. I know that sounds like a low bar, but I have been impressed. The over-the-belly maternity jeans I found on Amazon cost about $35 and I wear them three times a week. They look like real jeans. People have not been able to tell they are maternity unless I tell them.
I also found a belly band that lets me keep wearing some of my regular bottoms longer. This was a game changer in the second trimester when I was in that awkward in-between zone. Cheap, effective, worth it.
What I Regret Buying
Maternity dresses in patterns I thought were cute but that do not go with anything. I was emotional, I was shopping at 11 PM, I was not thinking clearly. Learn from my mistakes and stick to neutrals or simple prints that pair easily.
I also bought a maternity swimsuit too early, before I really knew how my bump would sit, and it does not fit the way I expected now. Sizing up would have been the move.
The Real Talk on Spending
You do not need to spend a lot to dress well while pregnant. Pick two or three investment pieces if you can, fill in the rest with Amazon basics, and do not overthink it. Your body is going to keep changing and the goal is just to feel like yourself while it does.
I am still figuring out what my “maternity style” even is, honestly. Most days it is a soft top and the jeans that fit. And that is completely fine.
What have you found that actually works? I want to know everything. Leave it in the comments.
