Maternity Swimsuits and Coverups I Love
Pregnancy in summer is its own experience. You are hot all the time, your body is changing fast, and the last thing you want to deal with is a swimsuit that does not fit or that you feel self-conscious in. I have been on the hunt for maternity swimwear that actually works and here is what I found.
The good news: there are genuinely good options at multiple price points. The less good news: sizing is weird across brands so plan to read reviews carefully and maybe order two sizes to try.
PinkBlush: Affordable and Actually Cute
PinkBlush is a maternity brand that consistently shows up when pregnant women are looking for stylish, affordable options. Their swimsuits are designed specifically for pregnancy, so the ruching and cut are meant to accommodate a growing bump without looking like a tent. I found a PinkBlush maternity swimsuit in a style I genuinely love. It is not the fanciest fabric ever, but for the price and how it looks, it is a solid buy.
HATCH for the Investment Piece
If you want the swimsuit you will actually feel amazing in and that photographs beautifully, HATCH swim is the answer. Their pieces are designed to work during and after pregnancy, the fabrics are high quality, and the cuts are genuinely flattering. The HATCH maternity swim pieces are an investment, but if you are going to be poolside or at the lake for a good chunk of the summer, spending more on something you love is completely worth it.
Amazon for a Budget-Friendly Option
I will not pretend I have not browsed maternity swimsuits on Amazon at midnight. The ruched maternity one-pieces are consistently well-reviewed and genuinely look better than you might expect for the price. Size up one size from your pre-pregnancy size and go from there.
Coverups That Work
A good coverup can extend the life of whatever swimsuit you choose by giving you something to throw on for the walk from the pool to the chair. I found a flowy maxi coverup that works perfectly over a bump. Simple, lightweight, comes in a bunch of colors.
My Sizing Advice
Size up. I know the instinct is to go true to size, but your bump changes fast and a swimsuit that fits perfectly at 24 weeks might not fit the same way at 32 weeks. Going up a size gives you more room and usually still looks intentional rather than too big.
Are you a maternity swimwear person or a cover-up-and-call-it-a-day person? Tell me in the comments. No judgment either way.
