Woman with skincare products during pregnancy

What I Am Using on My Skin During Pregnancy

This is a post I have wanted to write for a while because navigating pregnancy skincare was genuinely overwhelming. There is so much conflicting information out there and I spent a solid few weeks reading ingredient lists and comparing notes with my OB before I felt confident in what I was putting on my skin. This is not medical advice, just what I personally use and what I felt comfortable with during my own pregnancy.

Always run your routine by your own doctor. Every pregnancy is different.

Face Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Simple, fragrance-free, pregnancy-safe, and my skin loves it. I switched to this in the first trimester when my skin became suddenly reactive and it calmed everything down. You can find it on Amazon in bulk which is what I do.

Stretch Mark and Belly: Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter

I start applying this from the first trimester on my belly, hips, and chest. It is pregnancy-safe, smells amazing, and I have had minimal stretch marks so far. I cannot say it is all the butter but I am not stopping. Find it on Amazon.

Body Oil: Bio-Oil Skincare Body Oil

I alternate between the belly butter and this oil, sometimes layering them. Bio-Oil has been around forever and is specifically formulated to help with the appearance of stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It absorbs quickly and my skin feels incredibly soft after. Grab it on Amazon.

Vitamin C: TruSkin Vitamin C Serum

Pregnancy-safe and effective for the dullness I noticed around the second trimester. I use a few drops every morning before my moisturizer. The brightness payoff is real and there are no concerning ingredients. Available on Amazon.

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Still my number one. Fragrance-free, ceramide-rich, deeply hydrating, and completely pregnancy-safe. I use it on my face and on any dry body patches. The big tub from Amazon lasts months.

What I Stopped Using

Retinol, benzoyl peroxide, high-dose salicylic acid, and a few fragrance-heavy products. My skin adjusted and honestly the simpler routine has been really good for me. Sometimes the forced reset is a gift.
