Recipe for the Perfect Summer Mojito

The Perfect Summer Mojito

Cool, minty, and so refreshing on a warm Kansas City afternoon. Muddled mint and lime with a splash of fizz. Easy to make virgin too.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 drink
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: Cuban

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges, plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or 1 ounce simple syrup)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • 2 ounces white rum (leave out for a virgin mojito)

Method

  1. Add the mint leaves, lime wedges, and sugar to a sturdy glass. Gently muddle to release the mint oils and lime juice, without shredding the mint.
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. Pour in the rum, if using.
  4. Top with club soda and stir gently to combine.
  5. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lime wedge, and serve right away.

Notes

For a virgin mojito, simply leave out the rum and add a little extra club soda. You can also swap in lemon-lime soda for the sugar and club soda if you want it sweeter.

I hope this brings some refreshment into your day!

xoxo,
