The Stroller I Chose and Why (Honest Review)
The stroller decision is one of the ones I spent the most time on, and I know I am not alone in that. It is a big purchase, it comes with a lot of opinions from everyone around you, and the options are genuinely overwhelming. I want to share exactly what I looked at, what I ended up with, and why.
Short answer: UPPAbaby Vista. Longer answer below.
What I Was Looking For
I wanted a stroller that would last. Not just through the baby stage but through a potential second child, through years of use in all the different situations we put strollers through in Kansas City. A hot summer walk through a park, a winter trip to a holiday event, a day of errands when the trunk space is already full of other things. I needed versatility, durability, and a folding mechanism that would not make me want to cry in a parking lot.
Why I Chose the UPPAbaby Vista
The UPPAbaby Vista kept rising to the top every time I did research. It converts to hold two children without needing a separate attachment that looks like a science project. The bassinet is a legitimate safe sleep surface for newborns, which means you get extra value from it in the early months. It handles varied terrain well. And the resale value is genuinely impressive, which matters when you are spending a significant amount on something.
Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? For how we live and how long I plan to use it, I believe it is.
The Honest Downsides
It is heavy. When it is fully loaded with the seat, the bassinet, the cargo basket, and a bag hanging off the back, it is not a lightweight situation. If you are frequently taking public transit or have to lift it in and out of a car often, that weight is a real factor worth considering.
It is also a larger stroller. It fits in most restaurant spaces and elevators, but it is not a compact city stroller.
The Affordable Alternative Worth Considering
If the UPPAbaby price point is not in the budget right now, the Graco travel system strollers consistently get excellent reviews for the price. They are not as sleek or as expandable, but they get the job done and they are a fraction of the cost. There is no shame in the practical choice.
My Final Take
Buy the stroller that fits your actual life, not the one that looks best on Instagram. Think about where you will use it, how often, who will fold it, and whether you are likely to have more children. Those answers will point you to the right choice for your family.
What stroller did you choose and are you still happy with it? Tell me in the comments. I love a real review from someone in the trenches.
