Summer Table Settings That Feel Elevated Without Trying

Summer entertaining does not have to mean fancy or fussy. My favorite table settings for the warm months are the ones that look like you put effort in without actually stressing about it. Natural textures, simple colors, and a few key pieces that do all the work.

Here is how I put together a summer table that feels elevated every time.

Start With a Relaxed Tablecloth or Runner

For summer I skip the formal white tablecloth and go with a washed linen in a natural or soft color. It looks intentional but relaxed. Outdoor-friendly tablecloths are great for patio dining because they wipe clean easily. Outdoor tablecloths on Amazon.

Linen Napkins Are Worth It

Swapping paper napkins for linen cloth napkins instantly elevates a table. They wrinkle beautifully and feel so much better. I fold mine loosely, no origami required. I found a gorgeous set through Anthropologie on ShopMy that I use constantly. Linen napkins on Amazon.

Fresh Flowers From the Grocery Store

You do not need a florist. A $10 bunch of sunflowers or zinnias from the grocery store, cut short and put in a simple vase, looks absolutely beautiful on a summer table. Keep it low so people can see each other across the table.

Citronella Candles for Outdoor Settings

If you are eating outside, citronella candles are both practical and pretty. They come in nice vessels now that look like real decor. Scatter a few down the table and you have ambiance plus bug protection. Citronella candles on Amazon.

A Simple Serving Bowl That Does Double Duty

A beautiful large serving bowl in the center of the table works as decor before the meal and a serving vessel during it. I love a ceramic bowl in a natural glaze. Anthropologie has stunning options through ShopMy that are worth the investment because you will use them constantly.

Mix Your Metals and Textures

Summer tables look best when they are a little relaxed and imperfect. Mix wooden serving boards with ceramic plates. Linen napkins with glass candleholders. Woven placemats with simple flatware. It all comes together beautifully without looking overly matchy.

Keep the Center Low and Loose

The best summer centerpieces are low, loose, and natural. A few cut stems in a simple vase, some pillar candles at different heights, a small bowl of lemons. Keep it simple and breathable so the table feels relaxed and not cluttered.

Summer entertaining is one of my favorite things. I hope this gives you some ideas for your next gathering. Tell me in the comments what your go-to table setting move is.

So glad you are here. Pam
