Whipped feta dip drizzled with honey and topped with walnuts

Whipped Feta Dip with Honey and Walnuts

If you are looking for the appetizer that makes everyone think you are incredibly fancy and put-together, this is it. Whipped feta with honey and walnuts looks absolutely stunning on a board and takes about 10 minutes to make. Literally just a food processor and a few ingredients.

I have brought this to so many gatherings and it disappears every single time. Someone always asks for the recipe and looks genuinely shocked when I tell them how simple it is.

The Key: Block Feta

Please do not use crumbled feta from a tub. Get the block feta packed in brine. It is creamier and blends into a silkier texture. Full fat is also the move here. This is not the time for reduced fat anything.

Combined with softened cream cheese, the feta whips up into something that is almost mousse-like. It is tangy and rich and completely irresistible.

Topping It

The honey and walnut combo is the classic for a reason. The sweet honey against the salty feta is magic. Toast your walnuts in a dry skillet for a few minutes first, it brings out their flavor and adds a better crunch.

Other great topping options: a spoonful of good olive oil and red pepper flakes for a savory version, roasted cherry tomatoes, or fresh pomegranate seeds in the fall.

What to Serve With It

Warm pita or pita chips are the obvious choice. Sliced cucumbers, bell pepper strips, and radishes work great too. Crostini if you want to feel extra. I put out a mix of everything and let people go wild.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz block feta cheese full fat, drained
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp olive oil plus more for drizzling
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh squeezed
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp honey for topping

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves optional, for garnish
  • pita chips, crostini, or sliced vegetables for serving

Method

  1. Combine feta, cream cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic in a food processor. Blend until very smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
  2. Spread whipped feta into a shallow serving bowl, using the back of a spoon to create swirls on the surface.
  3. Drizzle generously with honey and olive oil. Top with toasted walnuts and fresh thyme if using.
  4. Serve immediately with pita chips, crostini, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

Use full-fat block feta for the creamiest result. Toast the walnuts in a dry skillet for 3-4 minutes for extra flavor.

This one is a guaranteed party hit. Let me know if you make it!

So glad you are here. Pam
